The foster care unit is part of the area of Children and Youth, together with the Child and Reception Unit, Youth Unit, and Outpatient Care. Here, you will have the opportunity to work with foster care for children and youth aged 0–21 years, in close collaboration with foster homes, social workers, and other professionals around the child.

Your role
As a child caseworker in foster care, you will work with children and youth placed outside their own home according to SoL and LVU. The assignment means that you ensure that the child's needs are at the center throughout the process from investigation to follow-up and that the intervention maintains high quality and legal security.
You will work closely with the child or youth, foster care caseworker, guardians, the foster home, and other important actors such as schools, healthcare, and outpatient care. The role is characterized by close relationship-building, clear structure, and great responsibility.
Your tasks include:
- Investigating and assessing needs
- Conducting child welfare investigations according to BBIC, analyzing the child's situation, and making decisions about appropriate interventions when placement is needed and following up
- Matching and placement
- In close collaboration with the foster care secretary and placement coordinator, selecting and assessing foster placements that meet the child's needs and conditions
- Establishing and following plans
- Developing or following a care plan together with the child, guardians, and foster home, and following and adjusting the implementation plan throughout the placement
- Regular follow-ups
- Conducting structured follow-up conversations with the child, the foster home, and the guardians to ensure safety, development, and that the intervention works as intended
- Legally secure documentation
- Continuously documenting in the child's file, writing decision support documents, and participating in considerations and re-evaluations
- Collaboration around the child
- Coordinating interventions and being an active link between school, healthcare, therapists, and other important people around the child
- Working based on the child's participation
- Ensuring that the child has a voice in a way that feels safe and adapted, and that the child's opinions are considered in all parts of the process
In this role, you will receive support from experienced colleagues and close collaboration with a placement coordinator. You will also receive regular supervision and opportunities for professional development.
As a child caseworker, you will have a meaningful and responsible assignment where you make a difference for children and youth every day. The foster care unit in Skärholmen has developed a work model for enhanced support for children placed in foster care. A Marte-Meo therapist belongs to the foster care unit and works in all phases of care, such as new placements and support to parents during visitation. The foster care unit also has support from family therapists in the family and network group.
Your qualifications and experience
We are looking for someone who has:
- A degree in social work
- Experience in public authority operations
- Good ability to express yourself well in writing
- In foster care, we travel a lot, so you need to have a B driver's license
Desirable
- Experience working in foster care
- Knowledge of the city's documentation systems
We are looking for someone who is responsible and flexible in their work and who has engagement and interest in the area of operations. You also need to have the ability to work in a structured manner, both independently and in collaboration with others. We will place great importance on personal suitability.
